Valtteri Bottas has warned his fellow F1 drivers that he going to be more aggressive next season.

The Williams star has a reputation for being reliable and consistent, but his battle in the last couple of races with Kimi Raikkonen showed a different side to his character.

And the Finn has promised to continue his new approach.

"Maybe the last few races I started being more aggressive," Bottas told AUTOSPORT.

"Normally I've been known as a conservative driver, always bringing the car home.

"I still calculate every risk but at some point there is the situation where it is better not to back off.

"It can either get you a good result or in the worst case maybe some other drivers know that they shouldn't try that [because you don't give way]."

Bottas is expected to be in the frame to replace Raikkonen at Ferrari should he leave the team at the end of the season.

A more aggressive approach could help him clinch it and may bring him a first career win this year.
