The long-term future of the Italian Grand Prix is almost assured as Monza officials confirmed that a deal could be signed next month.
The famous race was in jeopardy last season as F1 chief Bernie Ecclestone claimed that the venue were refusing to pay an increased race fee.
It looked like the race would have to move to another circuit until an agreement was reached late last year.
"We are on the home stretch to close the deal," Automobile Club of Italy president Angelo Sticchi Damiani told Autosport.
"We still need to refine some minor details, but the basis of the contract is now decided.
"I hope we can clear the final doubts within a couple of meetings. Let's say, the deal is 80% done. I count on signing by the end of February."
It is understood that the new contract will see the race protected until at least 2020, with an option for three more years.
