Hamilton cruises to Germany win as Rosberg suffers home nightmare
Lewis Hamilton's grip on the world championship strengthened today as he dominated the German Grand Prix from start to finish to take his 49th career win.
Hamilton beat Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg off the line, as the German struggled and dropped to fourth.
Rosberg struggled to comeback from there and eventually finished fourth, behind Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen.
Rosberg had muscled his way past Verstappen, but was later penalised for being too aggressive.
The result leaves Hamilton with a 19-point advantage, completing a remarkable turn around from earlier in the season.
Hamilton is now the overwhelming favourite to win the title, with this latest blow potentially fatal to Rosberg's championship chances.
His latest poor start was costly, as Hamilton fired past along with both Red Bulls - who showed good pace all race and frustrated Rosberg in the early laps.
Hamilton built a decent gap and maintained it all the way to the chequered flag.
Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen finished fifth and sixth, ahead of Nico Hulkenberg, Jenson Button, Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Pérez.
