Lewis Hamilton scored pole position for tomorrows 2016 Malaysian Grand Prix. It''s the 57th Formula 1 pole position for Hamilton.
The record of Michael Schumacher of 61 poles slowly comes in sight for Hamilton.
The British Mercedes driver was the only driver who could drive a lap time below 1 minute and 33 seconds.
Second grid place was won by Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg. He could not get the newly designed last corner right and had to settle for second.
Regarding the start failures of Hamilton this season, he was confident for the race tomorrow.
Dutch driver Max Verstappen who turned 19 years old yesterday, took the 3rd grid slot. He showed very good race pace in the long runs on yesterdays practice sessions.
When Red Bull gets it right for tomorrows race, the teenager will be a serious candidate for a race win.
