The 150 Italia Lego version with F1 drivers Massa and Alonso

With the Singapore Grand Prix coming up, the many fans who turn up here for Formula 1’s only night race will be greeated by an unusual site on the streets of the peninsula, in the shape of a Ferrari 150° Italia built entirely out of Lego bricks.

The full scale replica of the 2011 Ferrari 150 ° Italia was built by a 16 strong team of Lego experts. It took six months to design and plan the task and a further ten days to assemble the hundreds of thousands of Lego bricks, fixing them onto a steel chassis. The car features real Pirelli race tyres, a seat that’s big enough to accommodate a driver and an exact replica of the steering wheel, this too made entirely from Lego.

This collaborative project involving Shell and Lego will see this one of a kind Ferrari take a trip through the streets of Singapore, over a ten day period. It will be used to promote the fact that people filling up with V-Power at Shell petrol stations will be able to get a limited edition model of the car. Completing the range of Ferrari Lego cars that can be aquired are the 458 Italia, F40, 250 GT Berlinetta, FXX and also an Iveco truck, as used by Scuderia Ferrari at the European rounds of the Formula 1 World Championship. After the tour, the 150° Italia will be put on display at the Jurong Point shopping centre from 3 to 7 October so that even more people can see the car close up.
