Max Verstappen says he regrets nothing about shoving Esteban Ocon after Sunday's Brazilian grand prix.

The Dutchman will do two days of FIA community service as a punishment for the altercation, but insists he has no regrets.

"No. I'm just annoyed about not winning," the Red Bull driver said on the Peptalk programme on Ziggo Sport.

Verstappen says it was Frenchman Ocon's reaction to the incident that prompted his anger.

"I wanted to know what was happening with him and he just did a big grin and said 'I was faster than you'. He didn't say he apologised and in fact reacted the opposite way," said the 21-year-old.

"I wanted to be positive for my mechanics, but then you see someone like that who does not even say sorry for what happened.

"You do not expect to be hit by a laggard. I'm glad my dad wasn't there," said Verstappen, whose father Jos is famous for his short temper.

Some have said Verstappen's reaction was because of a long rivalry with Ocon in the junior categories.

When asked about that, Verstappen answered: "He is not a competitor of mine in formula one. I focus on myself and the people I have to beat."

Others think the Dutchman might benefit from the help of a psychologist, but Verstappen insisted: "If they come to me with a psychologist, I'll kick them out right away.

"You have to stand firmly in your own shoes. I don't need anyone. My father is a bit like a psychologist anyway," he smiled.

Please get a grip Margaret. Here is one man in the lead of a F1 GP, and the other (who I rate highly) a lap down. Gross injustice was what Ocon did - no questions- it's years since I raced but, the leader calls it - not a lapped back marker (plus, it probably cost Max maybe 200.000euro in bonus money - and what difference did it make to Ocon???

So what yr saying is that because Ocon was a lap down, hes not allowed to race.....!
He outbraked Verstappen overtaking him into the first S and was then pushed off the track going into the seccond by the IDIOT that lost it in getting the place back .
He is clearly a loose cannon and Red Bull need to shorten his leish before he kills someone.

He is allowed to race, but not with the race leader. That's why he got the penalty. A backmarker isn't racing the race leader for position, so always has to give way.

And on the footage you can see he did NOT outbrake Verstappen and cornered turn 1 later than Verstappen who was on the race line. This also was the case for turn 2, Verstappen was in front. But that's even irrelevant, because they were not racing for position..

Max Verstappen is becoming a rather nasty bully. I hope he improves his attitude so we can appreciate his tallent rather than vulgar brawling

See the father - see the son.

Read about Max's dad on Wiki. Numerous court appearances for physical assault on his ex wife, GBH on another driver and attempted murder on his 2nd ex- wife.

Charming!! Max has probably witnessed physical violent incidents when he lived at home which I his father used to sort out issues - hence the Ocon incident.

A phycologist is what Max needs - perhaps he will realise this one day soon!

The guy is unhinged andWill cause a seioys accident before long.
Having lost out in the first of those corners, hes clearly chucked his rattle out of the pram and wedged Ocon out off the seccond curve and the poo frenchman then gets penalised out of favouritism . It stinks...!

Too bad the incident was for the victory this time, but Verstappen himself has taken many people off the track with inconsiderate moves (e.g. Vettel in China). Karma seems to pay back.

What stunt....? Ocon had beaten him into the first S and Verstappen got the hump and pushed him off the track in the seccond . He may well be a brave talent to come but hes a very loose cannon and should be reined in befor he causes a serious accident.

I really don't understand these negative comments about Verstappen. If Verstappen would not have raced last Sunday, we would all have been looking at one of the most dullest races of the season. Verstappen was the only top driver who was overtaking cars in front of him, while all other "top team" drivers were driving a parade. Only Raikkonen was "allowed" to overtake Vettel and was at last able to overtake Bottas after 60 laps of the race or so. The 21 year old even overtook Hamilton on the track!

About the Ocon incident. If Verstappen would have nocked out the race leader, for example Vettel, while being a lap behind, everybody would also say he was crazy. So it looks like it doesn't matter what he does, you will always be negative about the guy.

Ocon should have been much more carefull and did a very dumb move, because they weren't even racing for position. Of course Verstappen never expected Ocon not to give way, because he was the f**king race leader!!! If Verstappen would have let Ocon pass, the guy would have got blue flags the next striaght to let the leader pass....

Um, Danny Ric, 11th to 4th seems worthy of note.
I dispare at the nasty and racist comments that arise in this site. It's not how fans who claim to love the sport should behave.

2011 Singapore: This was as heated as it has got between the pair this year. They collided on lap 12, Hamilton earning a drive-through after giving Massa’s Ferrari a puncture. In the pen afterwards the Brazilian grabbed him by the shoulder and said, sarcastically, “Good job, man” to which Hamilton responded: “Don’t touch me, man”.
