Day 2 - 2019 Bahrain In-Season Test

2019 Bahrain Test Day 2 - Steve Etherington

Event: In-season Test Bahrain
Track: Bahrain International Circuit

Weather:  24°C  dry
Tarmac: 27°C dry

A much better day in the desert for all ten teams involved in the second and final day of this in-season test at the Sakhir circuit. From a Honda point of view, everything went well and plenty of laps from our drivers means that we made up for the time lost yesterday to rain.

Much of the media attention these past two days has focused on Mick (son of Michael) Schumacher, driving the Ferrari yesterday and the Alfa Romeo today.

“In the end the teams and Pirelli managed to complete the work they needed to do at the Bahrain test. Pirelli tested their 2020 prototype tyres. They especially thank Fernando Alonso, whose experience has once again been a huge benefit as Pirelli started to analyse the data they collected.

The 2020 F1 season will be the final year of 13-inch tyres. As for the in-season test, each team carried out their own individual programmes using the current tyres that they had selected in advance from the testing allocation for the year.

Obviously and understandably, none of them had selected wet weather tyres, but it was still a productive test over the two days. Congratulations to Mick Schumacher on his Formula 1 debut. A lot of people were impressed by what his achievement during his first F1 outing”.
