In the first part of FP2 It was Sebastian Vettel who was the first to set a quick lap time. The 1:14038 he drove was improved by Charles Leclerc.
Antonio Giovinazzi damaged his Alfa Romeo during first practice. The team decided to replace his gearbox and therefor Giovinazzi wasn't able to drive this second free practice.
Half an hour into this session Lewis Hamilton made a rare driver error and hit the same wall as Giovinazzi with his rear right. His tyre got destroyed ride away and Hamilton had to slowly limp back to the Mercedes garage with the puncture.
After one hour Giovinazzi's car was fixed and the Italian driver started to work on his setup again to get the best out of the car. Hamilton didn't go out anymore and only drove 8 laps this session.
Best of the rest was McLaren driver Carlos Sainz. he drove 45 laps and was only 0.375 sec slower than Charles Leclerc who set tthe quickest lap time this session
Last years quickest FP2 lap times was set by Max Verstappen in the Red Bull, he drove a 1:12.198.
