Green light! The GP of Austria is on its way.
Leclerc remains in the lead. Meanwhile Bottas went to P2, followed by Hamilton, Raikkonen, Norris and Vettel. Behind that are the Red Bulls from Verstappen and Gasly. Leclerc takes the fastest time in the second round.
The Monegask wants to leave the Mercedes as quickly as possible, but must try to continue as long as possible in his soft or make a two-stop game. After the first corner, Vettel effortlessly climbs past Raikkonen. Magnussen 'under investigation' ... The Haas may not have been positioned correctly on the grid after the formation lap. He is currently riding fourteenth, which means that the Dane also got away badly at the start of the race.
Verstappen passes Raikkonen, who makes little effort to keep the Dutchman behind him. He knows and the public knows, as a top team, Red Bull is not an opponent of Alfa Romeo. His mission will be to defeat the McLaren of Norris (P7). Leclerc still has the fastest racing lap.
The pace of the leader in the competition is high! He makes optimal use of the softs to expand the lead. Norris drives his car to the Alfa Romeo van Raikkonen. Magnussen has received a drive-through penalty. His Haas was parked too far forward and that would have given him an unfair advantage at the start. Verstappen is approaching.
The fastest race lap goes to the Dutchman: 1.09.252. Hamilton loses time in the first corner. The five-time world champion is about the yellow 'roll' at turn one and slides a bit away. The gap between Vettel and Hamilton is small, but even smaller between Verstappen and Vettel. After Verstappen and Leclerc, Vettel the Ferrari driver records the fastest lap time: 1.09.073 (seven tenths faster than Bottas, four tenths faster than Hamilton).
Valtteri Bottas and Sebastian Vettel are going for their first pit stop. The two switch to white hard tires. Vettel, on the other hand, loses a lot of time with him it preferably lasted 6.1 seconds. (The technician's radio didn't work). Hamilton goes for a pit stop. The nose goes off and the Brit continues his way on P5 behind Vettel. Max changes his tires after 31 laps and with that comes out on P4 for Hamilton.
Gasly is finally past Raikkonen after 33 rounds. He's three seconds behind Norris. Lab 41/71 Daniel Riccardo & Lando Norris are battling on track. Verstappen takes the fastest lap: 1.08.317. Vettel takes a line other than Verstappen, sends in later and goes full gas. Verstappen takes a slightly narrower turn to accelerate earlier, which is necessary to get closer with the less powerful Honda engine. Verstappen has passed! With DRS and full gas on the last straight through the outside. Three and a half seconds between Vettel and Hamilton. Did he go to the soft too early or will he still succeed. Round 61 of the 71 has started.
There is the same difference between Verstappen and Leclerc. The battle goes between Verstappen & Leclerc and Max Verstappen takes the lead. A slight touché, but the Ferrari driver didn't stand a chance. Now Vettel ... Does he do the same at Hamilton! In one go, blocking wheels with the Mercedes and the red car passes effortlessly. The winner of the Grand Prix of Austria 2019: Max Verstappen! Again he takes gold on the Red Bull Ring. Leclerc second, Bottas on third with Vettel very close behind him. Hamilton on P5.

glad Ferrari did well the Mercedes was rubbish on that track
I have just looked at the slow motion replay via Twitter, when they touched Max was right on the edge of the road. He had driven Leclerc right of the road and also hit him. Even if they had not touched there would have been been a reason to question Max but for me the fact they touched is clearly a penalty against Max. Pity, it was great racing but barging your opponent off the road justifies a penalty , this is the pinnacle of the sport and demands the highest standards.
This was no different to Vettels move on Hamilton. Double standards.
Arrogance of the driver wins the day.
YES I DO AGREE WITH YOU MATE IF MAX TRY AGAIN SOME OTHER DRIVERS WILL DO THE SAME AND THINK THEY CAN DO THE SAME AND HAVE A BAD CRASH LETS HOPE ITS THE LAST TIME MAX WILL NOT DO THAT AGAIN IF HE GO TO MERCEDES TOTO WILL NOT LET HIM DO IT AGAIN
Roger, you should watch swimming races, where everybody stays in his own lane.
Ho yes i did not think of that you are right mate
Great race and for me Verstappen was brilliant. Three things stood out for me and the first was that I thought the incident was hard racing but I really don't see any other top driver doing anything different. The stewards may find against Max but I hope they don't because he deserved the win.. The second point is that this could be the final nail in the coffin for his team mate as it's difficult to get beat by your team mate but to be lapped when RBR had a race winning car is something no team boss will put up with. The final one is that McLaren are starting to see light at the end of a tunnel
MAX WAS RUBBISH TO DO THAT TO CHARLES IT SHOWS NOW FERRARI ARE GETTING ON TOP
Max overtook fair and square, stop your silly moaning there was enough room to drive a tank through.
read all the comments on this site and you know Nothing
As an ex formula one employee I think I know a thing or two, it's called racing.
As both the commentators and the stewards all ex racers agree with me it goes to show just how little you really understand racing .
Then probably he should spend some time in the armed forces driving a tank!
Once again Max forces another driver off the track and doesn't get a penalty for his actions. The part that i don't understand is he left room the lap before, so why not this lap?!!
In Canada stewards go heavy handed in interpreting the rule costing Ferrari a victory. In Austria stewards overcompensates erring on the side of leniency and cost Ferrari a victory. This is extremely dangerous for our democracy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fHfgU8oMSo
After some really boring races, with pole to finish winners, we finally got what we love in the F1: some spectacular action with great driving, not only based on motor muscle.
Too much race control can kill the spectacle!
3 HOURS,to make a decision BLOODY RIDICULOUS.A time limit of 15 minuets should be imposed ( serious fatal incidents exempt). Why oh Why is this farce tolerated it is making a mockery
of the sport.Come on FIA up your game before you kill the sport altogether.

Since I like this group, I'd like to hear your comments about the Silverstone race, especially the Vettel - Verstappen clash.
The Silverstone race was very good hard racing as it should be, the worst part was the vettel verstappen crash, vettel once a very good driver made yet another mistake, he seems to have lost it, why he smashed into the rear of verstappen we may never know, it was a stupid move and he should have known better and then to be given a ten second penalty when he wasn't going to score any points is just a joke, a ten place penalty at the next race or a one race ban should have been given, leclerc is a much better driver at the moment and should be given a better chance by the team, contracts say vettel has priority over leclerc WHY ???, it doesn't make sense.
maybe the Hockenheim race and result quiets the Max-basher a bit. He showed great control and the team were flexible to adopt a good strategy.
I the past Max made his mistakes, but he has learned and matured a lot. We need divers like this to keep the F1 alive and interesting. Charles will get get here too and Sebastian gave us a show of his talent and skills.
Ans that at Hockenheim, "Mercedes Benz, Grosser Preis von Deutschland" ! Beautiful!
