Pierre Gasly is still under the microscope at Red Bull.

Early season struggles for the Frenchman triggered rumours he could be ousted within his first season with the premier energy drink owned team.

But then he bounced back with a strong showing at Silverstone -- before crashing twice at Hockenheim.

"In (German GP) qualifying he showed a strong reaction to his accident," Red Bull's driver manager Dr Helmut Marko told Auto Motor und Sport.

"His pace in the race wasn't bad, but Gasly is just too weak when fighting and overtaking," Marko added. "The crash with Albon was completely unnecessary."

If Red Bull does oust Gasly for 2020, the overwhelming favourites to replace him are Toro Rosso drivers Alex Albon or Daniil Kvyat.

"Kvyat is a gifted racer, and Albon has again shown his fighting qualities," Marko said. "That's a good prospect for the future."

He was head and shoulders above the rest in Karting S1, put him in . Only George Russell was better , so put him in a decent car ( TR? ) as well. Lando is in a good place and I am proud of him. Where was the other F1 driver in British Super One karting (Lance Stroll )-tramping around at the back of the grid , despite spending more than the combined budget of the whole paddock.

I think all the drivers are basically good guys doing what they love. If Lance’s biggest problem is rich Daddy then more fool him; I’ll bet he loves his dad like most of us probably do ours. Make no mistake, the negative force around Gasly is the RB F1 business plan and Marko, not the other drivers and teams. Pierre has gone from very good TR driver to supposedly crap RB driver in one fell swoop in a lot of minds, but he’s still the same guy, we all fall and rise again and so will Pierre if he does get cut. Ask Webber, Hartley, Ricciardo etc etc how they’re doing now and they’re most likely happier not being with RB any longer.

I agree. Marko seems to be a bitter old curmudgeon. And Horner is bitter young Curmudgeon.

Unfortunately, a number of posters here kept badmouthing Lance for the sheer fact that he comes from money. I really do not understand that. It is the teams owner's prerogative to to give a seat to the driver of his choice. If Lance's father gives him a seat what is that to us? I don't get it.
