Valtteri Bottas says he is not worried that his Formula 1 career may be over.

Toto Wolff has offered the Finn a "soft landing" at another team if Mercedes decides to replace him with Esteban Ocon for 2020.

And 29-year-old Bottas himself has said he is lining up "plan B and plan C" in the event that he has to leave the world championship-winning team.

Wolff is contemplating his next move over the August break.

"The situation has not changed for me, so everything is open and I am waiting for information from the team," Bottas told Ilta Sanomat newspaper.

"I have the feeling that everything will be fine in one way or another." However, Bottas' alternatives appear limited. "I can't say any more when I don't know what's going on," Bottas insisted.

However, despite some recent bad races, he says he has been happy with his performance in 2019. "I've had a little bad luck, like in Silverstone where I would have fought for the win. Germany and Budapest hurt my average from the first half of the season as well, but it is what it is. I just have to keep going," he said.

Yep, agreed Bottas helpped Lewis win at least 2 races in 2018 and he is 2nd in the current championship. He and Lewis make a strong team.

I hope Toto sees the light and allows Bottas to stay for a least one more year! Perhaps Lewis wants Bottas gone so he is not challenged as much by his team mate in 2020 when he is trying to match the Sucmaker 7x world champion record in 2020 - since he will probably win again this year? Which is great!

The press asked Toto in Hunguary if he had asked Lewis whether he would like to be teamed with Ocon or Bottas next year. Toto said yep and Lewis isn't bothered! Pity about this response from Lewis since Bottas has helped him in the past and deserves his support.

    Let's see.

I think that you'll find the Ocon deal has been done. I think Bottas might know that too - hence his comments about 'being happy at Ferrari' a few weeks ago

As long as Ocon has a seat somewhere then there’s no good business reason to discard Bottas, unless his improving form is going to be an obstacle to Lewis getting to #7. There’s great cache’ for Mercedes having Lewis take #7 and then #8 WC in their marque, so driver 2 needs to be high performing but also understanding of the greater goal of the team, Valtteri has these qualities.. Driver 2 will get his payoff when Lewis and Mercedes part company. Don’t forget that this particular team has a commitment to its international sales teams to be above reproach and professional in order to maintain customer interest in its core business whether its luxury vehicles or trucks and buses etc etc blah blah blah blah blah..Otherwise just tell Valiguy that he’s got the boot and let’s see how Ocon does with his dream drive realised. That kid has got the goods that’s for sure.
