F1 is not a finishing school. It's the finished article. The great drivers hit the ground running as soon as they got their chance. Schumaker, Senna, Lauda, Hamilton etc.If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

It is not as simple as that. F1 is a team sport. Driver gets the most spotlight, most credit and most blame. Mechanics, engineers, and technicians contribute greatly to the success of a team (driver). Principals cannot be without credit or blame, either.

Choosing a good driver is a credit to those who chose him, but choosing a driver who is not up to the task they bear most responsibility for.

In case of Gasly the is even issue more horrendous than that.

There is more than one way to skin a cat. If Gasly underperformed there were endless ways for Marko and Horner to deal with it gracefully and professionally. But they didn't. Instead, like two old village women, they went around to the media, what looks like three times a day, and badmouthed their own driver. Go back and read their statements. Those are packed with threats and damaging judgements against the driver.

They had many tools at their disposal to convey their dissatisfaction with his performance without going public about it. They have done pretty much the same to Kvyat. Hartley seems to have got off lightly.

I have never thought much of Gasly as a driver, but now he has my full sympathy.

I am rather disappointed at that sudden demotion, of Pierre Gasly I'm watched his performance prior to his Redbull sign up. He really is good but taking the full blame is a shame, I never expected that from Christian Horner and Marco, I just hope Pierre regroups and is offered another team choice.
