Jul.5 - Toto Wolff has admitted to some concern about Mercedes' new black livery.

The team boss revealed this week that Lewis Hamilton had pushed for the change in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.

But there have been rumours that some Mercedes engineers are worried the sudden and unforeseen switch to black paint could increase the 2020 car's risk of overheating.

"That's a good question," Wolff is quoted by Ilta Sanomat newspaper.

"Communication and marketing are important, but if this hampers our performance, that's important too.

"It should be 30 degrees on Sunday, and then we'll see how the simulations we do with the silver car differ from the black car in the real world," he added.

Wolff admitted it is "unclear" whether the colour change will increase the risk of overheating.

If what carries on? Clearly a very low threshold. You will not be watching football then.

Is it so intolerable that F1 shows a little solidarity with "Black Lives Matter".

My, my, you guys are all heart.

That's the problem. The "I'm not a racists" have no problems with racism and the status quo. " You guys just work it out and please don't bother me as it doesn't affect me... " That attitude is what has allowed it to go on so long, uninterrupted. So, (1) black driver, out of over 750+ drivers in F1 history, bringing that fact to light, is too much for you? I'm have to assume if F1 openly discriminated against any group or race, but didn't make comment about it, you'd be fine with that? Since YOU"RE not racist...

Fed up to the back teeth of hearing BLACK LIVES MATTER and before anyone jumps on the bandwagon NO im not racist.
But lets put this into context
Floyd george was a criminal who accidentally died whilst being restrained by a police officer
Yes the officer was wrong for the excessive force used to restrain him but on the other hand if he wasnt comitting a crime in the first place the scenario wouldnt have happened.
How come nothing was said or protested about about the White criminal who was restrained the same way and died a week earlier.
Racism has no place in this world none at all but it appears to me that when theres a scenario between a black individual and a white individual the old RACISM CARD IS PLAYED.
Im a massive fan of lewis hamilton and f1 but can we please just stick to the racing and let so called politicians stick to their job whatever that is lol

Glad that 6 drivers had the good sense not to cower to the racist organisation BLM. Lewis Hamilton is very lucky that no fans will be at the British gp, that will stop his ears from hearing the boos. I am not rasict, and think that all lives matter. Keep politics out of sport, we need a consensus on race relations that has been put back 30yrs by so called millionaires jumping on the bandwagon.

Agree , I just want to watch F1racing. Lewis can make his statements without bringing it into F1.
Mercedes should have left their car as silver , that's their colour.

Hamilton is a prat and has spoilt F1 for years with his adolescent behaviour. Bet all the real blokes racing are not friendly with him. His biggest chip on his shoulder is he is neither black or white - he is mixed race!!! ALL lives matter. I will only return to watching this fantastic sport when Hamilton is not in it.

What I am seeing is there are just as many black racists as there are white racists ,soon as anything goes wrong out comes the card .Hamilton has pulled the black card before in F1 ,the black female competing in the Olympics for the UK, using the black card because she was pulled over .

I have to laugh (though not from humour) at the delusion and selective ignorance displayed by the castle dwellers here whose only concern in life is likely ill-health or losing their cushy jobs.

It may be a surprise to those luxuriating in their comfort bubbles but some people are passionate about causes that profoundly affect their lives or that of those about whom they care. If an entertainment event such as sport, which in the grand scheme is largely insignificant, can be used as a vehicle to further awareness, then so be it.

COVID-19 evidently hasn't shown some of you sports fanatics the true meaninglessness of the field you so worship. There is simply no comparison where human lives and basic dignity are concerned.

"I want to watch sports without politics." Utter rubbish! Money, power, sex, gender, personal beliefs and race are deeply intertwined in practically everything.

Lewis's beliefs and opinions are his. Unlike the tormentors of his paternal ancestors, he has not told, forced, ordered, bullied anyone (as has been absurdly claimed in certain quarters) to "take a knee" nor do anything else. Needless to say, everyone was completely free to do as they pleased. He spoke his mind no doubt fully expecting the pharasaical stone pelters to emerge from their adulteress-hunting crusades, in full force.

I have seen plenty of: "He has lost my support" and similar nonsensical comments elsewhere. I don't think it bothers him when those who question his right to express himself, turn their sanctimonious backs. Good riddance, he will no doubt say.

It's astonishing the fervent negative reaction to his statements while those same selective mutes remain true to type when certain demographics endure gross injustices every day. Hypocrites! What that has done is demonstrably amplified the relevance of his actions.

As regards the commenter here who claimed George Floyd was a criminal, there is a justice system to deal with lawbreakers. By your reasoning, a cop would be justified in terminating your charlatanical existence, because you are no doubt a criminal. You may simply not have been caught or convicted.

You also have the audacity to claim the killer's action was accidental. My word, did you write this with a straight face. Employing an illegal restraining technique, severely restricting someone's ability to breath for over 8 minutes, resulting in his (inevitable) demise cannot legitimately be deemed an accident.

    Nuff said!
