Jul.10 - Renault's Russian reserve driver Sergey Sirotkin has defended his countryman Daniil Kvyat's decision to refuse to kneel on the grid last Sunday.

Lewis Hamilton led the push for the drivers to make the gesture in deference to the Black Lives Matter political movement.

But six drivers refused to kneel, including Kvyat, who said Russians only kneel for their country or God.

"I fully agree with him in this matter, and with the opinion of the other pilots who refused to get on their knee," Sirotkin told Sport-Express.

"I respect the choice of those who did do it, but I still think that in the fight against racism and other unpleasant things in the modern world, it is much more important what people do on a daily basis," he explained.

"What I mean is, the sincere beliefs of each of us is more important than some formal action for the camera or in public. I always prefer to do a good thing but not tell anyone about it.

"Personally, I don't care what a person looks like, what country he is from, what nationality he is, what religion he has. The most important thing is human qualities, and my attitude depends on that," Sirotkin added.

I wonder if Hamilton realizes that Black Lives Matter is a Marxist political front. Unfortunately, It has nothing to do with helping the plight of black people. One should think before making a knee jerk reaction. If you want to help someone do it without the press and cameras.

I am rather surprised to see that Hamilton tends to forget about the Nazi past of Mercedes-Benz and their close relationship with Adolf Hitler. He could probably fetch some information about how the question of war criminality was resolved and how the ownership of the company retained its assets. He is definitely a great driver, and as such, he owes us some clear and unbiased opinions, not just bits of "politically correct" thinking.

It is also an indictment on the media and especially SKY for continuing to "INTERIGATE" anybody who chooses not follow Hamilton's instruction, for everybody in F1 to get down and kneel.

Absolutely agree with Richard and others who call for SKY for once start acting impartially. Most (almost all) of their presenters have consistently been incredibly BIASES towards Hamilton for a few years now as they are getting more embolden and it’s getting significantly worse. Its beyond may who cannot believe SKY have not been severely sanctioned for using their privileged position of unchallenged comments, rhetoric & behaviour to spew out such blatant hypocrisy.

For heavens sake keep politics out of all sports, especially a rogue organisation like B.l.m.??? Their are some brilliant sports men & women across the world, of all colours who show their sportsmanship on & off the field, as an example to all!! To kneel in prayer is one thing, to kneel in protest only causes conflict??? Wrong move Lewis???
