Jul.15 - Mattia Binotto's successor as Ferrari team boss may already have been found.

Formula 1's media contingent agrees that the Maranello team is in deep crisis after just two races of the 2020 season.

"There was a long briefing in Maranello this week to find out what is being done with the car for Hungary," reported Corriere della Sera.

It is believed more new aerodynamic parts will be added to the car this weekend, but Binotto's bosses John Elkann and Louis Camilleri are reportedly prepared to take "drastic action" if Ferrari does not make quick progress.

"The men even have a plan for a successor: Antonello Coletta," the newspaper claims.

Coletta currently heads Ferrari's sporting activities department, including the 'F1 Clienti' program and GT racing.

A drastic change like that has the backing of many in the Italian media, with La Gazzetta dello Sport insisting: "When the ingredients are good, it must be that the chefs cannot cook."

According to a reporter for German television RTL, however, Binotto could keep the job for the rest of the season at least. Journalist Felix Gorner said he thinks the 50-year-old Italian will remain boss "at least until the winter".

Former Renault boss Flavio Briatore doubts even signing up Lewis Hamilton would help Ferrari.

"Ferrari hasn't won for years," he is quoted by Tuttosport. "They have an aerodynamic problem and now it seems also with the engine.

"Nothing would change with Hamilton behind the wheel as a driver makes a difference of 1-2 tenths, not seconds.

"If I was Binotto, I would give up on this year but also next year and think about the 2022 machine for the new regulations. And I would not hesitate for a second," Briatore said.

They keep doing the same thing and expecting a different result. Jeez look back to the 2000's and see what worked during your most successful period and simply implement it, you are Ferrari fr crying out loud, any descent engineer, aerodynamics guy etc would be more than happy to be part of Ferrari's rise back to the top, instead they keep firing TP's like a bloody revolving door. More money than sense = Ferrari. God supporting Ferrari and Arsenal is a recipe for suicide.

TRUTH. In any form of motor racing the one with the most horsepower has the best chance of winning. Ferrari, excepting a brief period when they stretched the rules, has been doggie doo since the inception of these hybrid monstrosities. Bring back 12, 10, 8 or even cool 6 cyl engines and the red cars will fly. That ain't gonna' happen. And please, don't go off on the need for cutting edge tech and road car applications. For that we have Formula E.

Bring in some smart people and they all don't have to be Italian. Just do your job to the best of your ability. Building a championship takes years not done overnight.

Everyone seems to forget that I believe twice in the past 3 seasons F1 removed a very important part of the Ferrari power unit ..the way the turbo would rev going through corners to help launch out of the corners and then obviously the engine using oil for more power . If if if the team were not in breach of these rules they would be kicking aass and checking names . So they tried to circumvent rules . Just as Mercedes DAS complies with FIA despite all other teams not agreeing ... Ferrari went the way they did and they were deemed illegal ..

Binotto was never the man to lead Ferrari, its just one of the many mistakes they've made over the years. In years gone by I remember the lotus 76 being below par and lotus wheeling out the old 72 Ferrari should do the same because this years car is an absolute dog
