Aug.13 - Fernando Alonso says it is "impossible" for him to keep chasing the fabled triple crown in the next two years.

This week, the Spaniard is preparing for his third Indy 500 campaign, this time again with a McLaren-linked team.

But next year, he will return to Formula 1 full-time with Renault.

When asked if it is therefore his last chance to add the Indy trophy to his Monaco and Le Mans wins, he answered: "That is a good question.

"I think I am facing this race knowing that in the next two years it will be impossible to come back.

"I would have to miss a F1 qualifying if I wanted to do it and next year I won't be with McLaren," Alonso said in Indianapolis.

"So for the next few years I will not be here, but we will see what possibilities there are in the future.

"But I don't want to think about that yet," said Alonso. "I'm concentrating on the coming days."

Maybe take a look at Mario Andretti's 1978 racing schedule. He was F1 WDC and still managed 8 races for Penske in the US, including the Indy 500.

I cannot believe F1 has not done anything about this boring racing when the outcome is known before it even starts. I had tickets to Montreal, I now got my money back and have decided to not watch another race until 2022 as it will be more of the same until than. F1 need to shake things up now, like they did in 2005 by introducing tyres that had to last a whole race just to stop Ferrari winning. All they are doing now is killing the sport by allowing Mercedes to dominate for another year with zero chance for the others to catch up. Who would want to watch that, Nascar is more exciting and that is saying something.

Great post, Vince. Suggestion, F2 is very interesting and you might give IndyCar a look. BASHCAR just plain sucks. Alternative for F1 viewing, forget MB and concentrate on positions 3-10. Pretty good racing in the midfield...if SKY would just lose their HAM focus for a bit it would be more entertaining.
