Perez leaves Racing Point at the end of 2020
Sergio Perez is to leave the BWT Racing Point F1 Team at the end of the 2020 season, bringing an end to his seven-year association with the team from Silverstone.
In those seven seasons, Sergio helped the team achieve some memorable feats, including five podium finishes – most of them against the odds. Those strong results also helped the team – as Force India – achieve consecutive fourth-place finishes in the Constructors’ Championship in 2016 and 2017.
Everybody at Racing Point would like to thank Sergio for his hard work and dedication over the years, and wish him every success in the future.
Otmar Szafnauer, CEO & Team Principal BWT Racing Point F1 Team
“Checo has been part of the Silverstone family for seven years and in that time has become one of the most complete drivers on the grid. Blisteringly quick on Saturday and Sunday, he’s established his reputation as a tenacious racer and together we have enjoyed some fantastic moments.
If there was ever a sniff of a podium, Checo was ready to pounce, and those five podiums represent some of the finest days in the history of this team. Outside of the car, Checo is a true character and a good friend, and it’s been a pleasure working with him for such a long time. Although we will say goodbye at the end of the year, there are still nine races to go and plenty of opportunities for Checo to make some more special memories with this team.”

hope he gets a better team. It was obvious he was for the bullet when Stroll,s dad took over.
Pity Checo is leaving now that the team is doing so well!
I assume that this is to make way for Vettel? If not for Checo, there wouldn't have been a team to become RP. I'm disgusted with the team, if this is indeed to make way for SV. I hope Checo gets a huge payout, plus his 2 years, I think, that remains of his contract
Agreed, Linda, but my larger wish is that he go to Haas along with HUL.
ROR, I certainly hope he stays in F1. I realise that F1 is a business but it still seems unfair to me. Let's just see how many spins SV racks up with RP. I think Perez copes with pressure better than Vettel. 4 times Champion or not. I'd also like to see Hulkenberg back racing
Checo has been struck in the in the back by a lumberjacks axe. Perez has been doing great things for that team and continues to do so. The new Aston/Stroll team have bought a fast car but without the knowledge gained by getting developing it, so I don't see how they will improve the car. This year they have a 2019 Mercedes and next years car will not be a copied 2020 car, so where will they improve on their current car.
Thank Checo! Blood is thicker thsn winning....
