Feb.26 - Mika Salo has hit reverse gear after revealing details of Ferrari's secret engine legality agreement with the FIA.

The former Ferrari driver and current FIA steward raised eyebrows this week by suggesting that Ferrari's customers had to use less fuel than their rivals last year as punishment for the affair.

"I don't know if they will have a new engine for 2021, but Alfa Romeo will at least now get all of the power in order to use their full potential. They were not allowed to last year because of Ferrari," he had been quoted as saying.

Salo says his widely-reported words were "misunderstood".

"What I said in an interview a couple of days ago has been misunderstood," he is now quoted by the Finnish broadcaster MTV.

"I would like to clarify that I am not aware of the (details of the) agreement between the FIA and Ferrari. We only talked about what has already been in the media.

"It was a stupid joke and just a conversation between two guys," Salo insisted.

"All I can say is that I have no idea what any of the agreements are. And even if I did know something, I wouldn't talk about it out like that," he added.

Absolutely typical of MOST of THE SO CALLED JOURNALISTS to twist any fact/s to suit placating their editors and furthering their own agendas for mainly profit, and then sensationalise it with the idiotic "hit reverse gear" statement trying to defend the lie or now known as "fake news"!

No matter what is said we all know Ferrari were caught cheating and basically got away with it thanks to Ferrari International Assistance or as we know them the FIA.

Whenever someone opens their mouth and says something that they shouldn’t the defence is always that they where “misunderstood". Still waiting for the day that someone comes out and says “Yes I said that but I shouldn’t have I forgot to engage my brain before running my mouth”.

wow ready to hit on ferrari but the most important question is how does Mercedes pull it off for the last couple of years constructer champions does everyone believe that its all Hamilton listen no disrespect to Hamilton but I twittered this comment you can put a monkey in a suit in a Mercedes power unit and he will win the race no disrespect to monkeys all I am saying is I love F1 racing last couple of years were very disappointing to me not exciting power units so much slower than Mercedes units, seconds slower seconds represents technology power units are dominating drivers its all about constructers dominance so lets all do ourselves a favour and stop pointing fingers at Ferrari and lets look at the bigger picture and lets make the drivers the dominant ones and make all the power unites more competitive one more thing does any one really believe that if Sabastian Vettle hypothetically would have raced in a Mercedes unit he would of not won a couple of more championships imagine the switch Hamilton in a Ferrari wow what a challenge lets make this a drivers competition again
