Apr.22 - Two former drivers have suggested Sebastian Vettel's most competitive days in Formula 1 may be over.

There were high hopes the quadruple world champion's form would be boosted by his move from Ferrari to Aston Martin for 2021.

Actually, after Vettel's first two races for his new team, former F3000 driver Jason Watt told Ekstra Bladet newspaper: "Vettel is a finished man.

"It's a very long time since he did anything good. He also makes many mistakes and looks like a man under pressure," he added.

Watt even thinks the 33-year-old might not make it to the end of the season.

"I don't know if he can keep it up mentally," he said. "I do hope he stays the year, because he's probably clinging to the hope that things will start to go his way all of a sudden."

However, Watt doesn't think Aston Martin will simply oust him.

"People talk about him being an expensive guy for the team, but you also have to consider that he will have attracted a lot of sponsorship money, so he effectively pays his own salary," he said.

Meanwhile, F1 legend Gerhard Berger - Vettel's first team boss in Formula 1 - hinted that the German's time on the grid may be approaching the end.

"If you are a successful racing driver and you continue to pursue your sport with all of your experience and passion, you can still have success," he told Sport Bild.

"But I know from my own experience that the time does come when you are past your prime. You have to take that into account," Berger added.

This season could have not started any worse for Seb so one just need to have enough faith in the team to improve the car enough that Seb can give it his best shot for the rest of the season and at the end of it I am sure he will decide if it is his time to leave. He is most likely picking up all bad vibes around him which is not helping him to get into right gear.Imola was a such a bad experience for Seb as none of problems were of his own making and he himself is probably thinking someone has put a curse on him.

Hahahahahahaaaaa. Oh what a fall from grace. Given his past behavior I'm not sympathetic. As they say "karma is a bitch". Guess he won't be putting up that infamous index finger anymore Lol.

While he does get the red mist from time to time, I still like the guy. But he has been struggling for a while and may not make it. Think Alonso is in a similar (sinking) boat. Kimi keeps having fun, but doesn't make claims about being the champ again... He is just Kimi ;)
I still race motorcycles myself some, and have a good day from time to time, but have no expectation of winning any more... Just having fun.

Never mind the Russell/Bottas incident, what about the travesty of a driver (Lewis Hamilton) making big mistakes and crashing out and losing over a lap to the leaders and then being gifted a lap back because of a restart after a red flag!
This rule needs changing and changing soon as Hamilton would never have got up to 2nd place if he had restarted the race in the correct position of being a lap down.
At least six drivers and their teams lost points to Hamilton over this incident.

Now you're talking. Part of HAM's one year deal, BOT and RUS are not allowed to finish in front of him. -) Now he needs to get the Dutch kid to cooperate. Maybe tease him with a future MB seat?

Just another dimbulb F1 reg. Wouldn't want the fast guys to be forced into passing slower cars.....safety. But let's discuss reverse grids to spice the show.

For all those folks yammering about Vettel's 4 titles, keep in mind those were achieved with Adrian Newey's famous Blown Diffuser on the cars at the time, which was all the rage back then. When that chassis tech went away what happened? Ricciardo started upstaging him; what a coincidence. How many of you Seb fans were ranting about it being the car and not the driver back then? None!!! Because Seb was oh so superior..Lol. The truth has been revealed in that he was no more special than a Rosberg or Button. At least Button was a master of wet conditions. Cry me a river Vettel fanatics. Max is a far superior driver than Vettel ever was or will be; at least he doesn't crack under pressure.
Seb's index finger has been retired before him Lol.

Vettel was a finished man when he left RB. Without RB and Horner feeding Vettel's ego and a teammate that is great at setups and car development, Vettel's limitations were exposed.
Vettel is a great driver, not so much a great racer. Put him up front in a dominant car and the race is his. Put him in a car that is on par with the top cars and he struggles.
