Ferrari F138 & F2012 F1 car photo comparison
Today Ferrari launched it's F138. Ferrari didn't name their car F2013 as usual, but they desided to name their car to the year and the number of cilinders of the engine. Because F1 uses V6 turbo engines next year, their F1 car might be called F146.
Ferrari F138 side view comparison
In the side view comparison we don't see a lot of difference compared to last years launched car. It's all about small details. We have numbered the biggest changes on the Ferrari F138 side view comparison.
- Nose cover added and bigger nose gap underneath (see front view).
- Extra rod to support long floor in front.
- Lower mirrors and less antennas.
- Changed sidepods with aconda exhaust and lower suspension rods.
- Changed engine cover with steeper lines and more narrow back.
- Evolution of rear wing with more curves and more sleves.
- Shaved rear wing on bottom side and back rim has same amount of spokes as front rim.
Ferrari F138 front view comparison
In the front-view you will also notice a slight difference in the shape on top of the sidepod. The frontwings also look different, but we think that these wings aren't the real front wings yet.
Ferrari F138 top view comparison
When we look at the comparison from above we see the totally different back of the F138 F1 car. The side pods are curved the same on the front, but are wide from at the back. We can also see that the cockpit has moved a bit to the front and the nose tip is longer.
How much faster this evolved F2012 F1 car will be, is to be seen in next week winter testing. Felipe Massa and Pedro de la Rosa will test the brand new F138 to it's limits and hopefully be on top of the lap time lists.
Fernando Alonso will be doing physical training this week in warm temperatures so he will be in top shape for the first hot races fo 2013 f1 season.
