Jul.31 - A Hungarian government minister has slammed Lewis Hamilton for wading into the country's political debate.

Backed by Sebastian Vettel, who wore rainbow-themed 'Pride' Converse shoes in the Hungaroring paddock on Thursday, Hamilton lashed out at what he called Hungary's "anti-LGBTQ law" with a post on social media.

"It is unacceptable, cowardly and misguiding for those in power to suggest such a law. Everyone deserves to have the freedom to be themselves, no matter who they love or how they identify," said the Mercedes driver.

However, the Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung claims the law in fact only "restricts the information rights of young people with regard to homosexuality and transexuality".

Hungarian justice minister Judit Varga says Hamilton is even spreading "fake news".

"I have sadly seen that Lewis Hamilton is also joining the camp of international fake news manufacturers by attacking our child protection law," said Varga, who reports directly to prime minister Viktor Orban.

She said all the law does is empower Hungarian parents to protect their children from LGBT indoctrination.

"I suggest that Lewis Hamilton should read the Hungarian Child Protection Act," said Varga. "And then the shoe-maker should stick to making shoes, and a F1 driver should stick to driving."

We will keep fighting for truth and to protect children from the international marxist homosexual agenda. It might seem they are winning right now, but we'll never stop fighting, our strength comes from heaven!

i mean goverment shouldnt rly care what hamilton or vettel said, or did unless its agains the law, this is just giving them attention they wanted and is motivating them to keep propagating their agenda...

but that's the thing , its not an anti gay law , it just gives the parents of children an option for there kids not to be educated about gay relationships etc should they believe its not right to do so for whatever reason that isnt to say that Hungary is very gay friendly, , but hamilton jumped on the idea and used it , as something completely different, he either knew and didnt care , or is badly informed which dyo think it is?, another take on this is , hes used it to take some of the press attention away from the SS issue, because its usefull timing dont you think
For the uk readers ,take note he doesn't attack the uk government on its section 60 stop and search laws whys that dyo think? , interesting eh

DJOLE, are you replying to the comment that Shroppyfly made about understanding the comment you'd made? You do say, " I mean government shouldn't care........ If so, why is your user name different? I do agree with you, in the fact that the Government shouldn't care though

Politics has no place in sport, if Lewis was really that bothered he would boycott the race, but it’s all for publicity, don’t get sucked into Hamilton is an amazing human, he is a snivelling little cretin
