Dec.9 - Valtteri Bottas has admitted he received a second solid offer to keep racing in Formula 1 next year.

The five-year Mercedes veteran has been ousted for 2022, to be replaced by George Russell. Bottas, 32, has been signed up by Alfa Romeo.

The Finn told Iltalehti newspaper: "Two days after I made the agreement with Alfa, I got another call saying they want to talk.

"I said 'You're a little late'," Bottas smiled.

He would not name the team, but Bottas did admit the offer came from an outfit that has been "a little better" than Alfa Romeo in recent years.

"Maybe if you look at the last few years, it was a little better. But I still think this (Alfa Romeo) will be good.

"I'm still happy with this option."

Bottas insists, however, that he is fortunate to now be in a situation in which he doesn't simply have to chase the highest financial offer.

"For me, wealth is quite different from money itself. Yes, I will be ok, but I feel rich because I've gotten to do the things I've got a passion for," he said.

"(Manager) Didier (Coton) told me that the earlier I invest, the better. So of everything I've earned, I've invested at least half. Mainly long-term, low-risk investments through a bank.

"With the extra cash I earn, it's through passion alone."

I have been a follower of f1 for over 50 years, and I yearn for the days when a race could be run safely with far less administration interfering with the competition. This latest result disgusts me, and leaves the impression that it was rigged, as others have been this year. I dont doubt that many others must feel as I do.

I would like to see fewer races, and a firm limitation on the numbers of drivers. Qualification should include elimination of the three slowest drivers. Perhaps this would prevent an accident by the slowest as was the direct cause of this travesty of a race.

Enough. I shall not bother with f1 any more until it is reformed.

LEWIS HAMILTON controlled the race from the start to the penultimate lap. Both he and Mercedes knew what they were doing! THE LATIFFI accident was unfortunate and had it not happened Lewis would have won.
At this point the safety car came out controlling the race. Verstappen was the 6th car behind Lewis. why would you put Verstappen alongside Lewis for the restart? This move automatically gave Verstappen a distinct advantage. Taking away 5 obstacles (cars) and a significant distance apart was grossly unfair. F1 has been my sport to watch for 30 years, hardly missing a race. I cannot comprehend how or why the F1 staff could hand the championship to someone who had not won the race but gave it to the one they favoured. There can be no other explanation. HONEST people surely cannot be so stupid!!
THIS FARCICAL result requires a serious investigation as i believe there has to be some illegal activity as the people involved surely cannot be so stupid.

Jeff, You have indeed stated the truth. I have watched F1 as my sport since 1964 and never seen anything like this ridiculous ending decisions. We sadly miss Charlie White. It would have never happened or been suggested by him. Masi is a fool to have allowed this to happen. He knew it really would not have been a fair race on tyres alone. He had already made the decision to hold back those cars that had been lapped then changed it after Red Bull called him! In that case then ALL the lapped drivers should have come through. Ridiculous and obvious a major official made changes to the rules to suit the circus crowd. He should not remain in office. Go back to Australia. No, on seconds thoughts don't as I live there. Sheer driving talent had led almost 99% of that race and obviously Masi wanted his show pony to win. Shame on you.

      Now that's what I call a post.
Really good to know I'm not alone in your interpretation of F1.
For whatever reason,FiA & Liberty appear hell bent on manipulation of race results
