Verstappen tells Latifi to turn off his phone
Dec.17 - New world champion Max Verstappen has advised Nicholas Latifi to "turn off his phone".
After the highly controversial chequered flag flew in Abu Dhabi last Sunday, Christian Horner offered Canadian Latifi a "lifetime supply of Red Bull" for crashing and triggering the championship-altering late safety car.
Since then, some Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes fans have been firing conspiracy theories and abuse at the Williams driver on social media.
"Obviously it was never my intention to inadvertently influence the championship," the 26-year-old driver said. "I made a mistake and ruined my own race.
"I can only apologise for influencing and creating an opportunity, but again - I made a mistake," Latifi added.
Before Sunday's explosive 2021 finale, Red Bull boss Dr Helmut Marko said Verstappen was handling the intense pressure of the championship battle by avoiding the press and social media.
Verstappen, 24, now advises Latifi to take a similar approach.
"If he is smart, he will turn off his phone and ignore it," the Dutchman told De Telegraaf newspaper.
"I just hope Nicholas can enjoy his holiday and come back stronger next year."

"Christian Horner offered Canadian Latifi a "lifetime supply of Red Bull" for crashing and triggering the championship-altering late safety car."
If this is a valid quote. it solidifies my opinion of the lame doc, horny the mouth and the entire RB outfit.
LAT was in a dice with MSC, got a bit over zealous and screwed the pooch. It happens, let him be.
Things will eventually calm down anyway, but people still should've only ever criticized Masi in the first place.
The race should have been red flaged
The race should have been red flagged and set the order, first through last, every driver would have been able to change tires and Max still would have won.
Not an automaticity he would've won as in this case, both would've had a little-used soft set, so equal footing tyre-wise.
Shouldn't have introduced new rules with a couple of laps to go. FIA Farce
Those nasty LH fans he says sarcastically , banter yes, sarcasm yes , satire yes, but not this

Williams driver Nicholas Latifi says he received "extreme" death threats after his crash at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix led to Max Verstappen controversially winning the Formula 1 world title
I will repeat my above post and add:
Twitter, forums and other social media are easy places to bully and foment anger. Disgusting behaviour and Max the Mighty gave LAT good advice. Ignore it.
Max the Mighty, i love it lol , have i your permission Ror to use it in future?
Sure, let's foment a little anger. Not much else to do for 9 weeks unless the knight does a nico. Max the Mighty and Louis the Loser starring in 'Battle In The Sand', with supporting actors Michael Masi and Nicholas Latifi.
I find the words of the faces of Red Bull F1 so cringeworthy. Helmut Marko babbling. Horner with his adhd like outbursts prolly because he can't be Toto. And of course Max, the prince prick of all pricks. That they will be unusually insufferable in 2022 makes me dread the upcoming season.
