Apr.1 - Dr Helmut Marko says it's only "logical" that Porsche is interested in teaming up with Red Bull in Formula 1.

A meeting of Volkswagen's supervisory board, including the German luxury brands Porsche and Audi, is set to discuss a potential entry into Formula 1 for 2026.

That meeting is scheduled for April 5, with a source saying: "We hope to be able to communicate our intention to enter F1 at that time."

Rumours and reports suggest the decision will be a EUR 500 million tie-up with McLaren for Audi, and a works Porsche engine deal for Red Bull Racing.

"It's logical that we're the most attractive partner for a manufacturer," said Marko, whose Red Bull team now runs its own Red Bull Powertrains project according to the basic structure of the former works Honda alliance.

"Max Verstappen is quite clearly an important piece in this chess game," the 78-year-old Austrian told formel1.de.

Marko admits that "talks are going on in all directions".

"A number 1 place in the constellation would be nice, but we are still miles away from that," he insisted.

"But would I like to see Max in a Red Bull car with a Porsche logo? If I say 'yes' then you will think that we've already made some kind of a deal."

Hey, I;m still bouncing on the 2020 story that Porsche was starting their own F1 team in 2022 with Ron Dennis and Eddie Jordan running it. I liked that one. Just throwing a decaled lump in the back of somebody else's car is not a proper return, and certainly not as exciting.

Porsche has no balls. The would be in and then out... like Honda... in a few years.

They should shut up and respect their German heritage and back a venue in GERMANY instead.

Using ROR's words... Porshe is a Turd. ;)

Heh Swede, Who owns the VW Group ? That's right--PORSCHE

With the much lower PU costs ( proposed ) it makes staying in much more palatable to the shareholders.

I have tried to find the simplest way to show, for the ones that dont know , how Porsche own VW

Now ""Porsches"" maybe a turd , but its all about selling cars, im not disagreeing with you , just putting a bit of meat into the story, Totally agree with them, owning a venue though

Did you have a point? Who cares who owns what?

The Honda engine is working fine (but they quit) don't think they need Porsche (who would also quit).

Porsche, VW, MB, etc. should invest in a race in their home country.

Honda quit as a supplier ala works engine deal but as I understand it, till 25/26 the engines are still coming from Japan ,fettled/assembled here and badged as a red bull powertrain engine .
And for the next generation of engines makes sense to let an
            OEM shoulder the costs,
And yes it is relevant who owns what ie Porsche is vw Audi etc etc
Chill a bit, Swede save your anger for after the race lol

Shrop', I don't get the whole Honda/RB deal. Kinda' sounds like Honda is too proud to admit that they made a mistake.....again.

Swede, I appreciate your humour ,and the jabs, but please don't misquote me. Agree w/you and Shrop' re the OEM's backing a German GP but I don't remember ever mentioning Porsche in a turd post.

ROR, don't get your knickers in wad old biy. I never said you did. I borrowed your TURD words, and applied them to the real turd... Porsche in F1.

Look ta you, getting all defensive and political. Ha!

Reads like a quote to me. Not defensive, just don't like being misquoted. I'm pretty good at drawing flak all by myself. :)

That's not a bad assessment one could take from the --end of 25 scenario, i suppose if there was a change of B o D at Honda, easy way for them to jump back into f1, by still semi supplying the engines, its similar to when Honda stopped supplying works engines to Jordan , hand them over to Mugen to build i think

Win Win situ for RB though potentially two oems to choose from/work with
