F1 experts more critical of Lance Stroll this season
Apr.4 - Lance Stroll is not enjoying a sunny start to his 2022 campaign in Formula 1.
His billionaire father Lawrence is being criticised for his handling of Aston Martin's progress, and F1 pundits are calling his performance alongside last-minute substitute teammate Nico Hulkenberg "embarrassing".
"Stroll should ask himself if he should find a different hobby," said former F1 driver Ralf Schumacher.
Now, long-time Finnish F1 journalist and broadcaster Mervi Kallio has admitted that the 23-year-old French Canadian is his least favourite interview subject.
"The only driver I don't really like interviewing is Lance Stroll," she told Ilta Sanomat newspaper.
"In those situations, he seems quite arrogant. He comes to the interview with a listless attitude. It's embarrassing because he doesn't seem to want to show any part of himself or even be there," Kallio added.
"It seems like he's not interested in other people at all. He's got it all, but can he appreciate it? Does he even enjoy being in Formula 1?"
In contrast, she insists that she always enjoys a paddock chat with new Alfa Romeo driver Valtteri Bottas, who has "no such big ego".
"He understands that the answers he gives are not for me but for the fans. It's part of their public relations work," Kallio said.
"When he was at Mercedes, you could see the pressure he was under. Now, he keeps talking even when the camera is off.
"He's one of those drivers who you can notice when the pressure is on," she said.

Nice that you chat up BOT Ms. Kallio, he is after all a fellow Finn. Yes, Stroll seems to be half asleep when he is interviewed. So what? He is part of a wealthy family and has been around media most of his young life. Perhaps he has learned to not trust journo's. IMO, he is not WDC material but has done nothing to incur media disdain.

Stroll seems nice enough - not arrogant at all and it must be really hard having a dad who’s so rich and full of expectation from his son. He has no escape - plenty of money yes, but i bet he’d rather be driving a Merc or Bull!
Not much he can with the current car performance, so being more critical of him than before is slightly unfair.

Well, another son of a Canadian billionaire (Justin Trudeau - AKA "Trudy") just happens to rule the Democratic Peoples Republic of Canada. His woke, socialist agenda is ruining Canada.
Sooo, I have some misgivings about sons' of billionaires racing in F1 or any other venue. I suspect they lack a "singleness of purpose". Others call it a "fire-in-the-belly". And really, their involvement is yet another ode to wretched excess. Where's the commitment to the team when they get parachuted into the seat? Furthermore, having Dad lumbering around in the paddock would be a huge distraction and a buzz-kill not just for son, but for the whole team. Of course the less-than-stellar results speak for themselves.
Maybe Canada will invade the US, and the FIA will cancel the Canadian GP and outlaw the Stroll's to yesterday's news.
Having Dad in the Paddock didnt seem to harm Hamilton, Button or Max, and Stroll Snr has gathered together Millions of investment for AM ,and saved the company from being owned by another VC .Senna rich family, Norris Rich family and plenty of others im sure

What you say may be true, however, all the drivers you mentioned have the necessary skill sets to be competitive in F1 (4 World Champions and 1 in the making) ~ Lance Stroll does not. This weekend's race in Melbourne demonstrated Lance's absence of driving skills, and lack of knowledge of the rules regarding blocking and weaving, that are required in F1. History shows us the world of F1 is littered with drivers who had lots of money but no skills. Lance is but one of them!

In reality, Lance Stroll should not be racing in F1 ~ it is beyond his skill set and beyond his capability. The only reason he is in the car is because of his father's wealth!
Yesterday he again showed his poor skills by driving into Latifi and destroying both cars. Earlier in the day he shunted the fence and damaged the car. I think his super licence should be revoked, he is a liability to F1, not an asset. Lance Stroll is not up to the task. His skill levels are devoid!

In a media led entertainment you have to have drivers that can make crashes look like accidents. The top drivers can’t bring themselves to do it, look at Bovril and Belgian Grump’s pathetic attempts last year whereas for your Strudels and Fifi’s it’s second nature, sheer professionalism.

Do you really believe ANYONE would have a job in this multi billion industry if they did’nt have a use.
We all watched as Stroll destroyed Latifi's ride during qualifying and getting a penalty for weaving (blocking) on lap 38 during the race. During the race he held back 5 cars that were obviously faster for multiple laps, and he stubbornly refused to give way.
It is a small community, and there are ways to express your displeasure on or off the track. If Stroller keeps driving like the rookie he is, I'm confident that he'll be given the Good News one way or another.
