May 17 - Lewis Hamilton's stance against the jewellery clampdown in Formula 1 is not backed by the president of the Grand Prix Drivers' Association.

With the seven time world champion and new FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem at loggerheads over the new safety push, GPDA president Alex Wurz admits he is on the FIA's side on this issue.

"There are good reasons for this rule," the former F1 driver is quoted by Kronen Zeitung newspaper.

"But I probably would have liked a slightly different approach to getting the message across."

Indeed, the media has framed GPDA member Hamilton's opposition to the jewellery clampdown as being in stark defiance of the clear regulations, having already threatened in Miami to boycott over the issue.

The Daily Mail claims the 37-year-old driver and his "nearest advisors" are also "astonished" to hear that Ben Sulayem might bring axed F1 race director Michael Masi back to a top FIA role.

A source also told the newspaper that the new FIA president may be pushing back against the rising influence of Hamilton's Mercedes boss, Toto Wolff.

"He maybe feels that Toto has got a little ahead of himself. It's not up to Toto to run Formula 1," the source reportedly said.

2 more races with the nose piercing. He really is doing an excellent job with his social influence... a great role model for spoiled, young arse wanna-bes around the world.

Probably print up some "NPM" T shirts for the next race, and coerce the other drivers to wear them as they bow to the Knight on 2 knees on the grid.

It's getting so bad now that I keep getting these images of sir Lulu in diapers with a nose piercing sucking on a dummy surrounded by gold rings, watches, necklaces and other piercings waiting for his car to be fixed and Toto warming up his bottle, please make it stop so I can sleep easy.

hen I think Lewis’s real self is coming out, or his mental state is getting worse. In one breath is back and wants to win, in the next he is fighting imaginary windmills. He needs to retire while he has some dignity left. All this over ridicules jewelry and thinking he is above rules that were set in place for safety, rather drivers, fans or anybody else agrees with them.

Lewie the Rapper, move to Los Angeles, get on with your career and let the racers race. You are destroying your legacy and the Lewis Hamilton that I choose to remember deserves better.

Sir Lewis-a-lot has come against a bigger dragon than himself. At the end of the day, there is a good chance that Lewis is the former 7 time wdc. It appears he is not good at reading the tea leaves.

Given that countless thousands are killed and injured on the roads every year and rarely anyone killed or injured in F1, I suppose we should all take off our jewellery when we travel in a car or bus. We’re at far greater risk.
Or is the principle that we should do what we’re told by our masters without question like in Russia because it’s for our own good.
Never been very good at that!

I can't imagine Toto Wolff being in charge of the FIA / F1. I get images of goose-stepping Shutz-Staffel marching past asToto gives 'em all the high-five as he clutches the belt of his Sammy Brown. "Today Formula 1, tomorrow - ze vorld!!"
