Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz will start from P1 for the first time in his F1 career. The Spanish driver snatched away pole position from his teammate Charles Leclerc and Red Bull driver Max Verstappen in the very last lap. Verstappen missed out pole on only 0.072s.
Seven different teams are starting in the top 10 tomorrow. Surprises of this top 10 are Alfa Romeo driver Zhou Guanyu and Williams driver Nicholas Latifi. Zhou got into Q3 for the second time in a row and starts from P9. Latifi will start for the first time from P10 this season.

All three British drivers are starting in the top 10. Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton will be on row three together with Lando Norris in the McLaren. George Russell will start from P8 in the other Mercedes W13.
The Pirelli Pole Position Award was presented to Sainz by a British lion: Nigel Mansell, nicknamed ‘Il Leone’ when he was a Ferrari driver. Mansell won the world title in 1992 and won the British Grand Prix four times (as well as the European Grand Prix once in England).

2022 British F1 GP Race Strategy
The quickest strategy for the 52-lap race is going to be a two-stopper, with a few different options on the table.
The P Zero Yellow medium is the tyre to start on, and the quickest strategy on paper is medium followed by P Zero White hard followed by medium. This has the advantage of ensuring that two different compounds are run earlier in the race, opening up strategic possibilities.
For those who don’t have a second set of mediums available, the strategy could be medium-hard-soft, which is also closely-matched – and could be converted to a one-stopper if needed. A one-stopper is possible but hard to manage: this would be medium to hard.
As always, this also depends on which tyres the drivers have left in their allocations, and what the conditions are like tomorrow. It’s expected to be dry, but there is a risk of some rain showers, and the cooler the temperatures, the more the softer compounds are favoured.

I hope Sainz gets his maiden win, but more importantly for the WDC that Leclerc would finally start cutting back his points deficit before his championship chance is realistically over.
However, RBR's race pace is unideal for both, especially under normal circumstances, i.e., dry weather.

Don't know about other countries, but in the US we cheer our favorites and boo the other guys unless they do something outstanding and then we give them polite recognition. Sports at the pinnacle is not a place for thin skin.

Booing is universal. However, grownups should behave a little better. What is the point? Be it racing, soccer or any other sport, it just makes the booer look childish and embarrass themselves.
Good for Verstappen for not commenting. Too many already have about everything. Just race!

There's still enough of a hole in the air behind the car ahead to sling-shot at the end of the straight. Oh, like it used to be done for all those decades.
DRS represents an unfair advantage, and in fact encourages unwarranted and irresponsible lunges for the apex.
It's a crutch for marginal drivers.
