Jul.21 - Esteban Ocon hopes a solution can be found so that this weekend is not his last home grand prix in Formula 1.

The sport is at Paul Ricard this weekend, but most paddock insiders expect the Le Castellet venue to drop off the schedule for 2023 to make room for the likes of Las Vegas and South Africa.

"I hear a lot of rumours about the difficult future for the French GP," said Frenchman Ocon, who drives for Renault-owned Alpine.

"I've had some discussions and seen some statements from F1 that they are looking for solutions for another race in France, potentially in a city, which could be interesting," he told RMC.

"France has a very important place in motorsport with the most beautiful car brands, we have had exceptional drivers in the past, and it's called 'grand prix' wherever you go in the world.

"We are also discovering beautiful new tracks, but historic venues like Monaco, Spa and Paul Ricard must remain on the calendar," the 25-year-old said.

"Perhaps we will find a solution to alternate from one year to the next and still keep the history of Formula 1."

"France has a very important place in motorsport with the most beautiful car brands..."

Two US beauties come to mind, the Dauphine and the Alliance.

Paul Ricard's axing is pretty inevitable & thus also French GP's for the time being at least. Perhaps Nice someday.
Nothing Ocon (or Gasly) can do as race-hosting matters are outside his control.

Not sure I'd agree with Esteban about the most beautiful car brands coming from France, I think we need to go a little bit to the east and to the south east of France for that!
France is a very important place for motor sport. History tells us that France saw the birth of motor racing, so it would be a travesty for France not to conduct a race to showcase the world's best drivers and cars. Although I agree France needs to take suitable measures to deserve the event, not just be gifted it without justification.
Same for Spa, the greatest motor racing circuit on the planet. Although I am not fussed about Monaco, historical as it is. Lost Vagrant car park race is a sad joke, and should not even be a consideration. Unfortunately, it's not about what the fans want, it's about where Liberty can get the biggest bucket of money!

its not about if a country deserves a race, although certain countries are a given, its about how races are funded, crap tracks but get on the list, funded not by ticket sales, but by Governments,or Liberty themselves that's the problem Imo, to summ it up , biggest fee wins aka sandland, that's why Rors so miffed about Arabia and Carparks . Lets Qualy I think Max and SP will do a 1, 2 with Ferrari turning down there engines for reliability
