2022 Dutch F1 GP Race Report
The top three started on softs, while both Mercedes drivers started on medium tyres. The start of the race was clean. Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton dived into the Tarzan corner next to Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz to get his P3. Both got tangled a bit and had contact with their tyres. Hamilton had to slow down and even almost lost P4 to McLaren driver Lando Norris for few laps.
In lap two Kevin Magnussen went wide in turn 2 and hit the barrier, but was able to continue with the Haas as last. Max Verstappen slowly extended his lead all the way to the first pitstops. In lap 15 Carlos Sainz did his first pitstop to from softs to the medium tyres. The Ferrari pitstop went horribly wrong, because the left rear tyre wasn't there on time. The stop took 12.7 sec and Sainz fell back from P3 to P13. Meanwhile Red Bull driver Sergio Pérez also pitted and drove over one of the wheel gun of the Ferrari team and could continue undamaged.
Both German drivers Mick Schumacher in the Haas and Sebastian Vettel in the Aston Martin had a great fight on track and where side by side for several corners. Schumacher did get passed Vettel in the end.
Both Mercedes driver were on a one stop and that strategy looked like the quicker strategy until AlphaTauri Yuki Tsunoda had a strange technical problem that caused him to stop on the track in lap 47 and caused a virtual safety car period.
Verstappen, Hamilton, Russell all pitted to get fresh rubber. Verstappen got a set of hard tyres and both Mercedes drivers choose for the medium compound tyres.
In lap 55 the Ferrari engine in the back of the Alfa Romeo of Valtteri Bottas stopped doing what it was designed for. Bottas had to park his car at the end of the main straight just before turn 1. A safety car period was needed to recover the Alfa Romeo. Verstappen Russell and Leclerc pitted for a fresh set of soft tyres. Hamilton didn't stop because he was in the lead of the race, which cost him dearly again.
Right after the restart he got passed by Verstappen and even his team mate Russell who made the call to get a fresh set of soft tyres also passed Hamilton on the main straight. Leclerc also was much quicker on the softs and pushed the seven times world champion of the podium to P4.
The Dutch crowd went wild when their hero Max Verstappen crossed the finish line to score his fourth consecutive F1 win this season.

And the award for helping Max win this season, ------The rest of the field lol,was Lewis crying in the car, i really thought i heard him whimper a bit , there was certainly a bit of a whine, Toto going for the win, yeah yeah, , new edition of finding an excuse for a fuck up for his fading star .
Alonso , no mistakes, another solid performance .
Full marks for GR passing his team mate sir Lulu for second spot, doesn't look like he's going to be sir Lulu's wing man, I think Lulu was in shock when GR passed him,,, no, no, no you can't do that.
lolololol
Did you see the face of Toto when Lewis got passed George on soft tyres?
His face said: O, no! How the hell am I going to explain this f*ckup to Lewis after the race?
Ah Lewis well discuss it in my bedroom later sweetheart lol
Suspicious DNF by Tsunoda, akin to 2018 Singapore GP, but Bottas DNF even out.
Nevertheless, the same outcome in any case.
I was surprised Hamilton didn't wait with acceleration until the timing line like in Interlagos, not that he could've won even in this case.
I was also surprised Sainz didn't get penalized for overtaking Ocon under yellow conditions.
seeing lulu nosedive from his perch makes up for having to listen to croft and button kiss his ass for 90 minutes
ffs sky - sub in di resta or chandok when martins out and put croft out to pasture
To be honest I don't think there's any love lost between JB & Sir Lulu he is just doing his job as a sky commentator and earning a wage. Working for sky seems to be the reason why commentators are biased towards sir Lulu.
Right! Jensen was bad enough, but Croft, or was it Crofty, I mean CRUSTY, just would not shut up about Dame Lucille. Plus neither of them could get their story straight.
After Boi George passed Dame Lucille, Crusty banged-on about how they both should have gone to mediums. Jensen immediately said they should have both gone on to soft's.
Y'know, I get it that it's a good thing to wave-the-flag and support the 'home team'. Yet, Crusty makes it sound like Hamilton is the only Bloke out there putting down laps - and that he is a real contender for his 8th WDC.
In the meantime, Jensen actually mentioned George and Lando a number of times, in glowing terms - and rightly so. Both were showing off their talent, and deserve the spot-light far more than The Dame.
I watched as Dame Lucille looked to the right as George went flying by. Then he started with the blame-storming and bleeped-out expletives. Now, here's a has-been that quite literally politicized Formula 1 single-handed, has flaunted rules regarding bling, and wears clown outfits to drivers meetings. His narcissistic tendencies are always on display.
Mercedes Management has had to protect their brand a number of times as a result of Lucille's antics. I get the sense that their patience has pretty much been exhausted.
Apart from that, it was a great race. Alonso put in another solid performance, and the Schumacker / Vettel battle was an exquisite ballet. I'm lovin' it.
Canadian how can you get it so wrong.... Hamilton isn't a Bloke at all..... lol
Spot on with the rest of your accurate and non biased post though
WHAT?!? I thought The Dame was born in Britain. Please don't say he's from The Democratic Peoples Republic of Canada!
Stellar drive from Verstappen again! Four wins in a row! Been a while since we've seen that kind of performance in F1.
Sad to see Ferrari fail again. Sainz must probably hate Zandvoort by now and the Ferrari strategists kept it way to save this time.
I have great respect for Russell who called his softs pitstop on his own, something Hamilton should have started years ago.
Bring on the Temple of Speed! Hopefully Ferrari will not f*ck it up at home...
Forza Ferrari!
Here's the real deal. RB has hired Flav' as the 'B' team strategist. The TSU 'breakdown' kerfuffle has Flav' written all over it.
Another nugget. Gunny has manipulated the Haas guys to make SCH look bad. Certain points change to 13th based on a two day pitstop.
That's it from the beach. I hate the obnoxious disco screech.
I love the fact the journos are quietly talking about TSU/piquet , come out and print it loud if they dare lol, everyman, and Hamilton knows Max could win without even turning up to race this year, a chilled cool down now to the Fia awards where Max is again crowned ...the journos gotta find some find something to write about...
as you might guess ROR i'm with you.
This is big busines. What we might be witnessing is reverse strategy, where you use all the tools at your disposal to f--k up the other teams strategy. Nothing new.Nice safe spin perfectly executed, suddenly unreliable HONDA engines, convenient pit under safety/ yellow flag car, job done.
Idiot Hamilton caused the panic button to be presed at RB by getting fastest lap far to early.
So, Ham fastest driver on track, Max wins.Nice one RB.Again.
Congratulations RB. Great race! RB female strategist is worth her weight in gold! Brilliant job
It's like she is prescient.
Hmmm
yet another race where the podium is decided by SC or VSC, when are they going to close the pit lane to anyone other than those with a puncture.
Stop whining, your sounding more like the Dame with every race...!
What about other damage, like the front wing?
Can't touch the car until race re starts.
Have a stop go penalty on the next first 'real' race lap. not difficult.
Penalizing for something technically legal would be wrong.
Stroppy, I see in an interview Sir Hammy agrees with you. Its not down to the driver its who has the best car.(and strategist)
Of course only applys if the best car is MB
TG the FIA banned those stupid orange flares. What a menace! I am surprised it too so long! I can't imagine sitting behind one of those idiots lighting those things off. That would have quickly descended to fistacuffs.
Yet people still brought them in.
