How much data does an F1 car generate?

as an old man my main passion is still motor racing. but i am not a lover some of modern ways which seem to be getting so complex and expensive, everyone moans about the cost. I ask the question, if we have top drivers in F1 why do they need all the electronics. Safety and close racing is what we want. Put all that access money into developing fuel that is clean.
