Will Mattia Binotto make an F1 comeback at Audi?
Feb.14 - Well-known Italian journalist Leo Turrini thinks sacked Ferrari team boss Mattia Binotto could re-emerge as Audi's new Formula 1 boss.
Last week, Red Bull boss Christian Horner said he has "sympathy" for Binotto's situation as he did a "good job" in charge of the Maranello team.
However, both Horner and his Mercedes counterpart Toto Wolff played down any speculation the long-time 53-year-old Ferrari engineer could now switch to one of their respective teams.
Turrini told the Pit Talk podcast: "I'm sure that Binotto will be able to stay in Formula 1 after the gardening period.
"I am absolutely certain that he has had a proposal from Audi to lead the team that will be on the grid in the near future," he added.
Binotto was replaced by Alfa Romeo boss Frederic Vasseur, ahead of the end of Sauber's naming deal with Alfa Romeo later this year and the transition to the majority Audi takeover.
Italian media sources believe Binotto will be on 'gardening leave' for at least 6-12 months.

Teams like any business need managers. To win a world championship a team needs the best leader to manage and inspire it. The board often appoint a well known face because finding the right person is hard work, so in comes a failure who fails again.
I don't think Wally was a failure at all, in fact he took a team who were flappy pants and brought them up to second by making decent decisions to stop pouring money down the well of the then current cars in order to focus on the new cars we see today. The red horse has benefited from that.
It's the race day management where his team let him down and where Wally may have just been too much of a nice guy to slam those making the mistakes.
That said, would Audi want him on the pit wall? I doubt it. Maybe backroom staff in the factory encouraging people, but not on the wall shouting at them.
I totally agree Andy! He brought Ferrari back to the top and got sacked for it... Can't believe how heartless and stupid the current management is by letting him go. Wasn't he working at Ferrari like some 30 years or so? He knows every secret there is to know.
This years Ferrari is the last one under his regime and will probably make Ferrari champion again, it's a pity Binotto won't be around to share the title(s).
