In a nail-biting 2023 USA F1 Grand Prix, Max Verstappen emerged victorious. The Red Bull driver faced fierce competition from Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris throughout the race, making for an exhilarating spectacle at the Circuit of the Americas.
Lights out in Austin, and Lando Norris made a fantastic start, immediately establishing a lead over his rivals. The Ferraris of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, along with Lewis Hamilton, were closely packed behind him.
Verstappen quickly made his presence felt, advancing to fifth place and pressuring Hamilton as the race unfolded.
Lap 3 saw Esteban Ocon suffering from sidepod damage, a result of an earlier incident with Oscar Piastri. The stewards were already investigating multiple incidents, including one involving George Russell.
Lap 6, and Ocon had plummeted to the back of the grid due to his damaged car. Meanwhile, Norris extended his lead over Leclerc, with Hamilton closely following in third.
Verstappen, on a two-stop strategy, executed a crucial move on Sainz to secure fourth place on Lap 5.
Lap 17 marked the end of Ocon's race, as he retired due to the damage sustained in the early stages.
Both Norris and Verstappen opted for a two-stop strategy, with Norris switching to hard tires after his second stop. Verstappen managed to rejoin the track ahead of Norris, setting the stage for a thrilling battle for the lead.
Lewis Hamilton, on a one-stop strategy with fresher medium tires, overtook Norris on Lap 49 and set his sights on Verstappen.
In the closing laps, Hamilton closed the gap to Verstappen but ultimately fell just short, with Verstappen securing a hard-fought victory.
Lando Norris secured third place, marking another podium finish for McLaren.
Carlos Sainz, despite pressure from Sergio Perez, held on to fourth place, while Charles Leclerc finished a respectable sixth.
Yuki Tsunoda claimed the fastest lap in the final lap, earning an additional point
The 2023 USA F1 Grand Prix will be remembered for its intense battles, strategy twists, and Verstappen's impressive victory. With just a handful of races remaining in the season, the title race remains captivating, and Formula 1 fans can look forward to more exciting action in the coming races.

All this Merc and Mcl catching up Rb, Really? could be max was having an off day , car problem , no car development, could be dozen reasons, but heh make it sound good that everyone's catching up Rb , for once Lucy did a good race, my guess is Max was cruising a fair bit of the race Oh dear the red team.......One-Zero to Yuki, bit of a confidence builder for Checo too, so good for him
Those Brit commentator wankers, give it up to the Dutchman already.
Hate to admit it, I dropped the $$$ & went to the race. First one in 7 yrs., and probably my last. Takeaway: MYGAWD, these current cars are fast & sticky...like slot cars, but way too big. And, for those of you who are VERhaters, the boos were not directed at him. The reaction was to the governor of Texas being there for a photo op.. He is a certified uber douche. BTW, even with the SKYguys, tv is better.
Sorry to report (not really), Hamilton and LeClerc were disqualified from the race due their floors. Was found 4 hrs after the race in a random FIA post race examination.
Not quite within 10 laps, but a victory nevertheless.
Stroll & Sargeant had good races, which was important for both, but especially the latter.
Tsunoda was again a bit questionable with his defending under braking, but pitting for the FLAP point was a good move.
Finally, as expected, Mclaren overtook AM for P4.
Poor old Leila, fancy the team making such a mistake, were they just trying to make the Dame look good?
A silly mistake by the red team and the very rule abiding lol Germans
As for attending the race, I see those free tickets you got from the Fia scrutineering dept were put to good use Ror
Ok random cars checked , but so what rules are rules
The Germans have never been good at following rules Shropp, they went to Poland once without an invite, just rocked up and did their own thing. 🤫
Yeah, Bauer and I had a nice pre-race chat & decided to put some fun in it. lol BTW, do you agree that this was the worst USGP in memory? What a waste of $$$ and time. Had I been at home at least I could have taken a nap. I am chagrined.
well when its on the TV and its shite, it dont matter so much, but when the fans have travelled , spent there hard earned $$, it shouldn't be a bad race, but yeah so many things even as the race started made it poor, 4 from the pitlane i mean....., and track limits again, as to the actual race yeah it wasn't one that full of action id agree, what made it poor for you from the top of that tower, looking down surveying all that is yours, as to the cost wasn't it $2000 for three days in the grandstands, i did see another figure of $1500, i presume as a Boss, you just attended Sunday
We move on and Marko is travelling by Armoured car to the track i hear
Definitely not the worst ever, not to mention the race wasn't even boring per se.
“I have to apologise to Daniel because of this car failure, which meant he couldn’t show a better performance,” team principal Franz Tost said.
It would be interesting to know why he felt the need to apologise, could it be the lump of carbon fibre lodged in his car dislodged from the back of Yuki’s.. 🔧
I guess we will not know the full details.
Very poor sportsmanship booing Max, but I suspect that there will be some excuse made up from the powers that be. I will be watching with interest the reception he receives when they race in South America next week.
Spy, politics....fan boos were for the governor of Texas, not VER. Austin is the closest Texas comes to a liberal center and he is not popular there. The noise happened when he appeared, and when he presented a trophy. VER just happened to be in the way at the time.
Read today, the booing was primarily from Checho’s fans. The majority of the booing was during the trophy presentation, directed at Max. Austin is Austin regarding Abbott. Both have pretty thick skin.
Sorry Susan, I was there. First round of booing was when the governor first appeared and second was when he presented the trophy. Clearly directed at him no matter how the press tries to spin it.
Sorry to hear that. Rude is rudeness no matter who does it. Either group, they are both low lifes, IMO
Hopefully then we won’t hear the boo’s at Vegas. We can put it down to bad timing once but a second time won’t look good.
Doubt we'll hear much of anything from the air conditioned rooms behind glass in LV. Of course, Liberty will have amplified mics to raise the crowd noise. The biggest boos will be from the gamblers & locals who just want those funny little slot cars to get out of town. LOLOL
DOD: Ya' know, as much flack as we have given the Stroll kid these past few weeks let's give him well deserved kudos.....pitlane start to 7th place points. My opinion hasn't changed, but nice job in this one.
I have a problem with Stroll’s behaviour because I wonder if the shoe was on the other foot, would his trainer still have a job?
Sorry, but there is not a workplace on this planet that would tolerate that sort of behavior anymore. If anyone working for me did that, they would find out very quickly what the term ‘unemployed’ means. It’s not acceptable behavior at home or at work.
I guess given some of the stories about helicopter rides because he didn’t want to walk ten minutes, they give some insight into the sort of person he is.
You are spot on. I agree, but I'm trying to be objective about only this race.
No safety cars no vsc, and no accidents, no red flag , must be one the rare races where none of the above happened?
Quite a few such races already this season.
Hey Shropp what were your thoughts on the Qatar Grand Prix? I have to admit that I quite enjoyed the unique format of the race.
Okay concerns about the reliability of the tire walls were looming in the background, but this in my humble opinion added an element of suspense and excitement to the midfield battles.
From a race strategy perspective, it presented a significant challenge, making the teams and drivers rethink their approach. The race became a lot more engaging and intriguing because of this.
yeah it definitely gave it more jeopardy with three forced stops, Im more disappointed in Pirelli, not being able to produce a tyre good enough to safely more than 19 odd laps, you definitely didn't want to be a strategist that day lol, was it enjoyable yeah , but please no more like that, get it together Pirelli Kerbs/track limits and tyres, surely theres more to F1 than that, Not that Max cares, he just gets in and drives
