Because of the rain that fell between FP1 and FP2 the track was still wet in the first half of the session. After 6 minutes Valterri Bottas was the first to go out with is Williams FW36, but didn't complete his lap and went back in to the pit. 30 minutes is took to see the second car. Adrian Sutil was the second F1 car to do a lap on the drying circuit. Because of this lack of action you could hear a lot of protesting F1 fans.
At the end of the session the fans were given a great show with crowded and exciting 2nd free practice ending. In the last 10 minutes several drivers stole away the fastest lap. At the end Ferrari F1 driver Fernando Alonso was the quickest with a gap of 0,4 sec to Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes. Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel was 3rd fastest.
Raikkonen had engine trouble and had to give up. All drivers could keep their F1 car out of the 30km of barriers around the circuit.
