Formula One legend Michael Schumacher has returned home to continue his recovery after a skiing accident nine months ago.

Schumacher’s manager, Sabine Kehm, released a statement saying that the seven-time champion has made “progress” at a Swiss hospital but there was “a long and difficult road ahead”.

Schumacher spent six months in a medically induced coma after hitting his head on a rock, while skiing off-piste in the French Alps.

He was initially being treated in a hospital in France, but moved to Lausanne in June. He has now moved to his Lake Geneva mansion.

There is no update on the health of Schumacher, and there is unlikely to be a further update for some considerable time.
