Mercedes chief Toto Wolff has said that Nico Rosberg proved a point by winning the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Rosberg topped all seven of the sessions in a dominant weekend which has given him more hope of winning the world championship.

Rosberg trails Lewis Hamilton by 17 points but the Englishman had won the previous five races.

Wolff told reporters: “Dominating every single session and then winning the race with a Lewis Hamilton behind your back pushing hard , withholding that push and keeping his cool together shows that he wasn’t only a great qualifier this season but he showed also his skills to win a race against a guy who is leading the championship.”

Rosberg must win the season-ending race in Abu Dhabi and hope that Hamilton slips up, if he is to win the championship.
