Williams insist that it must continue to work hard and progress further up the Formula 1 grid in 2015.

The British team have struggled for much of the last ten years but this season saw them return towards the top, as they beat Ferrari to finish third in the Constructors Championship.

The multiple champions revival became one of the most positive stories of 2014, with drivers Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa regularly competing for, and scoring, podium finishes.

However, deputy team principle Claire Williams told reporters: “We are pleased with P3 but we have work to do.

“Frank (Williams) is saying, ‘why is everyone celebrating P3? We are here to win!’ So we have to make sure we continue with work over the winter and move forward.

“Hopefully we can close that gap to Mercedes, and hope our competitors don’t close the gap as much as we do, so we can take the fight to Mercedes next year.”

Williams finished ninth in the 2013 Constructors Championship, highlighting how low they fell before this year.
