Newey to attend some 2015 races

Red Bull boss Christian Horner has said that ex-technical officer Adrian Newey will still attend some races in 2015.

Newey announced he was taking a step back from the sport last year and was moving to the Advanced Technologies Division, which has subsequently announced a new venture with Olympic sailor Ben Ainslie.

Newey is still involved with the design of the 2015 car, but is not known how often he will be seen in the F1 paddock.

Horner told the Red Bull website: “Adrian is taking a little bit of step back, but he’s still very much involved. He’s overseen the design of the car and will be coming to some races and he’ll be at some of the pre-season tests as well.

“It’s great to still have Adrian as part of the team and still advising and mentoring Dan Fallows, Rob Marshall, Piere Wache and Paul Monaghan. We have such a strong senior technical team.”

Red Bull enters the new season with a new driver line-up, after Daniil Kvyat replaced the Ferrari bound Sebastian Vettel.

Horner believes 2015 will be a season of change and excitement as Fernando Alonso re-joins McLaren and Ferrari go through a fire-sale of staff.
