Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg has admitted that the team are looking good ahead of the 2015 season, which gets underway next month.
The current champions have gone about their business quietly in winter testing so far, as they have focused mainly on their reliability.
However, there were a couple of signs during last week’s second pre-season test in Barcelona that they remain head and shoulders above the rest of the field, and Rosberg is increasingly confident.
He told Sky Sports: “We have a great team now and while we are keeping a close eye on the opposition because there have been some strong times from other teams and it is not clear at the moment, we are in a strong position.”
The German insists that he is prepared for another titanic title battle with team-mate Lewis Hamilton, who piped him to the crown last season.
Tomorrow sees the start of the final four-day test in Barcelona, as the teams and drivers shape up ahead of the first race in Melbourne in three weeks’ time.
