Fernando Alonso has thanked Formula 1 fans for their support, in a video message he has posted on YouTube.
The McLaren driver spent three nights in hospital earlier this week, after he crashed into the wall in Barcelona last week during the second pre-season test.
Doubts have been circulating over Alonso’s chances of racing in the Australian Grand Prix in two weeks’ time, and the Spaniard failed to confirm when he will be back.
In the video, he said: "As you can see, I'm completely fine. I would like to be in the test this week in Barcelona but the doctors' recommendations were that I had to wait, a couple of days.
"So I will rest this weekend and I will keep you updated next week with progress.
"See you very soon on track and thanks for all the support."
McLaren blamed high winds for the crash, while it has been reported that he fell unconscious momentarily after the incident.
