Against all the odds, Manor made it to the Australian grand prix and on Thursday both cars soared through scrutineering for the 2015 season opener.

But the team might not be able to run in Melbourne.

Germany's Auto Motor und Sport reports that the problem is simple but significant -- software.

Correspondent Michael Schmidt wrote: "During administration, all computers were cleared of data so they could be sold."

Manor might now run out of time to re-install the crucial data, especially given that partner Ferrari was not expecting to supply its 2014 power unit this year.

Schmidt added: "Manor may also need to pay some bills before the engine software is even released.

"In the paddock it is rumoured the team might only be race-ready in Bahrain."
