Rosberg dominates in Spain

Nico Rosberg is firmly back at his best after a dominant win in the Spanish Grand Prix.

The German was followed home by Lewis Hamilton, who won a race-long fight with Sebastian Vettel.

Ferrari will be disappointed with their afternoon as it is clear that they have lost some ground to Mercedes over the last few weeks.

Vettel’s team-mate Kimi Raikkonen finished fifth, behind Valterri Bottas of Williams and couldn't get past in the final few closely fought laps.

Both Ferrari drivers made a fast start as Vettel leapfrogged Hamilton into second, while Raikkonen jumped from seventh to fifth.

Hamilton fought off a challenge from Bottas to maintain third, but he struggled to get past Vettel as he lost downforce in dirty air.

All this allowed Rosberg to stretch his lead out front, as Vettel was pre-occupied defending from the defending world champion.

Hamilton should have got past at the first round of stops, but the rear left tyre didn’t go on properly and he lost three crucial seconds.

However, a change in strategy worked wonders as Mercedes put the Brit on to a three-stopper and it allowed him to build up the pace in clear air to jump Vettel.

Further behind, Felipe Massa finished sixth ahead of Daniel Ricciardo, while Carlos Sainz muscled past Max Verstappen to earn a point.

Fernando Alonso retired with a brake failure, after a terrifying incident in the pit lane when he almost collided with one of his mechanics.

There were no issues for Rosberg however, who claimed his first win of the season
