World champion Lewis Hamilton has welcomed the potential challenge of Red Bull at this weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix.

Mercedes have dominated the season so far and have all but one race as Hamilton and Nico Rosberg fight it out for the title.

However, Red Bull impressed in practice for the Hungarian Grand Prix as both Daniil Kvyat and Daniel Ricciardo finished ahead of Rosberg in FP2.

Hamilton said: “That’s good, the more the merrier – the more battle we have, the better. The Red Bulls look like they have been relatively quick today. We’re looking pretty good at the moment. Our car is feeling good this weekend.”

Hamilton ultimately topped the session in the end, but the tight, twisty layout of the track should make it far more competitive at the front than it has been in recent races.

Red Bull won the race last season, when Ricciardo held off Hamilton and Rosberg in the dying stages.
