Red Bull team boss Christian Horner believes that Daniil Kvyat was emotionally affected by the pre-race tribute to Jules Bianchi in Hungary,
Kvyat struggled in the early parts of the race as he tumbled down the field, before recovering strongly to score his maiden podium in second.
Prior to the race, the drivers gathered at the start/finish line to greet Bianchi’s family and stood in a huddle as the sport said goodbye.
Horner said: “I was watching him at the beginning and you could see the whole Bianchi tribute caused quite a lot of problems; he was quite emotional about that getting into the car.
“The tribute to Jules [affected] quite a lot of drivers’ heads – Danny in particular found it quite tough. I think it took him a few laps to settle down and get into the race. But it was a fitting tribute to Jules.”
Bianchi died last week as a result of injuries suffered in the 2014 Japanese Grand Prix.
