Sauber driver Felipe Nasr admits that he and the team expected to struggle after the first few races of the year.
The low-budget outfit made an impressive start to the campaign with both Nasr and team-mate Marcus Ericsson consistently finishing in the points.
However, their rivals have developed their cars faster than Sauber, leaving them struggling towards the back, but Nasr is optimistic ahead of the second half of the campaign.
"This moment that we were going through was expected by Sauber. It was a difficult time, but we have development planned for the second half of the season,” he said.
"We have an engine update from Ferrari coming to Spa. And we also have an update of our aero package for Singapore, looking towards the 2016 season.
"This race [in Singapore] will be critical to understand better the data that the car will give us, as it will apply to the concept for 2016.
"I've learned that our car operates in a very small working range. So we have many areas to improve. We know that the car has a major limitation, so the importance grows of having a good interpretation of the Singapore race."
