Report: Grosjean signs Haas deal
Romain Grosjean will move to new team Haas F1 next season and cut his four-year association with Lotus.
Grosjean has impressed over the last four years but Lotus’s financial problems have held him back from becoming a real force at the front of the grid.
Haas has made no secret of their wish to acquire an established name in their debut F1 season and Grosjean has been won over by their potential, according to AUTOSPORT.
The American team will hold a press conference on Tuesday where they will name their driver line-up, with ex-Sauber racer Esteban Gutierrez favourite to race alongside Grosjean.
Haas have close ties to Ferrari and will use the Italian manufacturers engines next year, confident in the knowledge that they are almost as good as the dominant package offered by Mercedes.
Grosjean reportedly expects that Haas can hit the ground running next year, in contrast to recent new-team strugglers HRT, Manor-Marussia and Caterham.
With a Ferrari engine in the back and several other components from Sergio Marchionne’s team, there is every expectation that Haas can become a mid-table team from the off.
