Watch, learn and discuss! As many of you enjoyed our last tech bite showing an Aero CFD Simulation, we decided to publish this one, too: See how the fuel moves inside the fuel cell. It's short and it's even an old fuel cell spec, but it provides great insights and plenty of room for discussion!

This animation shows how the fuel in the tank moves while driving through Ascari chicane in Monza. As you can imagine, too much movement has a negative influence on the car's balance and behaviour.

CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) is a great tool which is not only used for aerodynamic research, but also for simulations of all kinds of fluids in the race cars. Different from the wind tunnel, CFD also allows to calculate and simulate temperatures. The two complement each other perfectly.
