Hamilton wins thriller to become champion
Lewis Hamilton has won his third world championship with victory in a thrilling US Grand Prix.
The Brit took advantage of a Nico Rosberg error to take the lead with a handful of laps to go, and confirm the successful defence of his title.
The 30-year-old has dominated the season and has now equalled the three titles of his hero Ayrton Senna.
Rosberg finished second, ahead of Sebastian Vettel- who remains second in the championship standings.
The race was one of the best of the season, as a wet track caused havoc throughout.
Rosberg lost the lead at the beginning of the race to Hamilton after a slow getaway, but Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo and Daniil Kvyat quickly put the champion under pressure as they enjoyed the wet conditions.
However, after a safety car period and with the track drying, Mercedes responded and Rosberg regained the lead with a fine move on Hamilton.
Red Bull's hopes of victory faded as the track dried, allowing Vettel to quickly become a contender.
The German planned to run to the end of the race on a medium set of tyres while the Mercedes pair had to stop again, but he was forced to stop with 10 laps left.
This left the fight between Rosberg and Hamilton at the front, and Rosberg made an error when he ran wide under braking which Hamilton took advantage of.
