Rosberg claims fourth straight pole in Mexico
Nico Rosberg put his USA heartbreak behind him with pole position in the Mexican Grand Prix.
The Mercedes driver beat his world champion team-mate Lewis Hamilton by less than 0.2s, but he dominated the session and looked faster throughout.
That marks the German's fourth pole in a row, although he has failed to convert any of the previous three into race wins.
Sebastian Vettel will start third for Ferrari and will be encouraged to be just 0.2s off Hamilton, while Red Bull's Daniil Kvyat will be alongside him in fourth.
Mexico provided an excellent atmosphere for qualifying, but unfortunately home driver Sergio Pérez failed to do better than ninth after being caught on a cold track,
Perez had waited until the last possible moment to set a fast lap, but unfortunately all drivers struggled and no one went faster than they had previously done.
Rosberg had looked the fastest driver on Friday and earlier today, but Hamilton set the fastest time in Q2 and threatened to snatch his 50th pole.
However, Rosberg nailed his two fast laps to comfortably hold off the Englishman.
Elsewhere, Daniel Ricciardo will start fifth, ahead of Valtteri Bottas, Felipe Massa and Max Verstappen,
Kimi Raikkonen will start next to Jenson Button at the back of the grid after reliability problems cost him dearly. Button didn't compete in the session due to an engine change.
