Nov.14 - Yet another driver with a famous surname is moving up the racing ladder towards F1.

In 2014, Max Verstappen used the European F3 team owned by Dutchman Frits van Amersfoort as his springboard into formula one this year.

In its German F4 outfit, van Amersfoort has this year been running Mick Schumacher, the teenage son of the F1 legend Michael.

And now Pedro Piquet, the son of Brazilian triple world champion Nelson and brother of former Renault driver Nelson jr, has been signed up by van Amersfoort.

Piquet is the reigning back-to-back Brazilian F3 champion, who will now take on the category's premier European series, which many now regard as a solid feeder series to F1.

"It's nice that after Mick Schumacher they now have a guy with the surname Piquet for his team," said Jos Verstappen, Max's father.

"Frits deserves it fully," he told De Telegraaf newspaper, "but I think he owes it a little to Max."
