This season, Lewis Hamilton won the Drivers’ Championship for the second consecutive year, beating main rival and team-mate Nico Rosberg to the title once again. The main difference this year, however, was that Hamilton clinched the championship with three races remaining. Simply put, Hamilton dominated Rosberg for the entire 2015 season.

The Briton never looked like he was going to lose his title and there was nowhere near as much drama and internal conflict between the two drivers. It may be Formula One's best rivalry for years but Hamilton is certainly the dominant force in the garage. Either Mercedes finally made it clear that Rosberg was their number two driver early on in the season or the German simply knew that he didn't have the nous or pace to keep up with Hamilton's car.

What makes Lewis Hamilton such an outstanding driver? His aggression. Hamilton isn't afraid to try a borderline move and make it stick. Although he does push the boundaries at times, Hamilton's unique manner behind the wheel appeals to most of the Formula One fans. Nowadays, races have become tedious and predictable. Whichever car is excellent on the straights will naturally surpass those in front, especially with the use of DRS. However, Hamilton has kept supporters on the edge of their seats throughout the tricky corners as he's willing to try and overtake wherever it's deemed safe.

Before looking ahead to next season, we must consider the final race of the 2015 campaign: the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix - which takes place on November 29th. At the time of writing, Hamilton is valued at 5/6 with betfair to win the final race of the calendar year. This would put the icing on the proverbial cake as Hamilton can truly celebrate an outstanding season. To put Hamilton's year into perspective, he has dominated the field in a similar way to Vettel during his four world championships at Red Bull - an impressive achievement to say the least.

Next season, Mercedes will be the team to beat unless Ferrari can seriously up their game in the offseason. The German side have controlled Formula One in the last two years and there have been plenty of rumours regarding engine suppliers in recent times. If Mercedes begin to supply the other teams with engines, they will lose their distinct advantage in the sport - something that Hamilton himself wouldn't be particularly pleased with. However, as things stand it looks as though Hamilton is the man to beat and, unless something serious changes, he will be the 2016 World Champion.
